This is the plain-English version of how Low Bar Podcast ("Low Bar," "we," "us") handles information from people who visit this website. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll explain it.
What we collect
Mostly, only what you choose to give us:
- Your email address, when you sign up for the mailing list.
- Your name, when you supply it.
- Whatever you write in a contact form or in an email you send us directly.
- Basic technical information that any website produces when you visit it — things like your browser type, device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages requested. This is generated by the servers that host the site.
The Low Bar email list currently runs on Kit. If you submit your email address through the mailing-list form on this site, that address is sent to and stored by Kit, and it is used to send you Low Bar emails. That's it — we don't sell or rent it.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list. You can also email us and we'll remove you.
How we use information
- To send Low Bar emails you asked for.
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To keep the website running, secure and working properly.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not run advertising cookies or ad-tracking technologies. Any cookies used are the narrow technical ones required for the site to load and function correctly, plus anything set by embedded or linked third-party services when you interact with them.
Service providers and third parties
We use outside services to run the site and the email list — for example Kit for email and our website hosting provider. They handle information only to provide those services.
The site also links out to external services, including YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Plink, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and Kit. Once you follow a link or use one of those services, their own privacy practices apply, not ours. We'd suggest reading them if you care about this stuff.
Data retention
We keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed, and messages for as long as they're useful for the conversation or our records. Ask us to delete something and we will, unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, and the services we use do the same. That said, no website or online service is perfectly secure, and we can't promise otherwise.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe at any time, ask what information we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll take care of it.
Children's privacy
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
